Initial situation

The Bad Wimpfen Volunteer Fire Department protects one of Germany’s most beautiful historic old towns—with narrow alleys, densely built half-timbered structures, and tourist-oriented areas. However, this special environment also comes with specific potential hazards. To be as well prepared as possible for complex incident situations, the fire department was looking for a practical way to jointly train and further develop tactical procedures.

Investigation approach

The aim of the collaboration was to sharpen operational-tactical considerations at various command levels and to create a shared basis for future decisions. In particular, the following aspects were to be the focus:

Key findings (compressed)

As part of the Lülf+ Tactics Workshop, an interactive workshop was designed that combines digital and hands-on elements. This enabled participants to jointly analyze incident scenarios, test alternative approaches, and immediately understand their impact.

Lülf+ took on the moderation and technical leadership of the workshop, guided the discussion along a clear common thread, and ensured that all findings were systematically documented. The approach combines theory and practice in a way that promotes the exchange of experience within the fire department while also delivering tangible results.

As part of the tactics workshop, important insights were gained and improvements for the future were derived.

Results of the organizational investigation

The tactics workshop gave the Bad Wimpfen Fire Department the opportunity to review and further develop its tactical concepts under realistic conditions. The open exchange created a shared understanding of procedures, priorities, and decision-making pathways.

The result: more clarity, greater safety, and stronger collaboration across all command levels.
