How do I find the right words and confidently address critical questions from the press, and how do I appear authentic and capable in front of the camera? Our experienced press instructors will address all these questions and aspects in detail, sharing their extensive knowledge with your press office.

Theoretical knowledge of question-and-answer techniques and journalistic methods forms the basis for confident media interaction. A significant part of the seminar consists of practical training. We therefore focus this advanced training on practical situations from the areas of television interviews, radio interviews, and telephone interviews.

For subsequent reflection, we record the interview scenes and discuss them together in the group afterward. We tailor the questioning techniques and the level of content difficulty individually to the respective abilities. For inexperienced participants, short, easily accessible interviews are provided, while more seasoned communication managers are challenged with tricky and particularly critical topics and follow-up questions.

For this seminar, we recommend a group size of eight participants. This ensures that all participants can appear in front of the camera twice.

Course Program:

Conveying theoretical foundations of question-and-answer techniques in interviews. The focus is on practical exercises with multiple scenarios. The difficulty level of the questions is individually adapted to the participants’ knowledge.

Patrick Schulte

Consultant, Instructor, Specialist Planner

Patrick Schulte works as a lecturer in staff work at the Lülf+ Academy and as a consultant in control centre planning. After completing technical training in communications and high-frequency engineering, he spent more than 20 years working in consulting and strategic marketing for BOS manufacturers as well as industrial and municipal clients. As a volunteer, Patrick Schulte has more than 30 years of operational experience with the Menden (Sauerland) fire brigade and is active there as a fire engine company commander and as the officer responsible for digital radio. As a trained incident commander, he has been supporting the Märkischer Kreis incident command in the S2 and S6 functional areas as part of staff work for ten years. He also serves there as a district instructor in the field of information and communications technology (ICT).

Jens Rönnfeldt

Consultant and Instructor

Jens Rönnfeldt works with us as a consultant and as a lecturer at the academy. He spent 22 years in various leadership roles at the Fire Department (Branddirektion) in Frankfurt am Main, and subsequently 13 years as Deputy Head of Department at the Darmstadt Professional Fire Department (Berufsfeuerwehr Darmstadt). While working, he earned a Master’s degree in Disaster Preparedness and Management (KAVOMA) at the University of Bonn. Jens Rönnfeldt served for 28 years as a guest lecturer at the Federal Academy for Civil Protection and Disaster Assistance (BABZ) and was also involved for several years in the standardization work of the DIN Standards Committee for Fire Services (FNFW). In the past, he has also served as a lecturer at the University of Bonn and as an author of standard works in fire services.

 

Jan Müller-Tischer

Senior Consultant and Senior Lecturer

Jan Müller-Tischer heads our Lülf+ Academy. He is an expert in staff training and crisis communication in civil protection, and is a visiting lecturer at institutions including Akkon University of Applied Sciences, the University of Bonn (KaVoMa), state fire service schools, and the Federal Academy for Civil Protection and Civil Defense (BABZ). Previously, he worked for many years as a journalist and social media editor and produces our podcast on civil protection. He supports our team from our Hamburg office. Jan Müller-Tischer is active in a voluntary capacity as a trained unit leader in the Mobile Command Staff of the state of Schleswig-Holstein, in the disaster control staff of his home district, and in the fire department. In recent years, he also helped to establish the THW’s Virtual Operations Support Team (VOST).

Carsten Petersen

Consultant and Instructor

Carsten Petersen works with us as a consultant and lecturer for staff work. As a business graduate (Diplom-Betriebswirt) and paramedic, he spent several years as a divisional manager heading the emergency medical services of a relief organization and coordinating volunteer emergency units. His responsibilities also included participating in the emergency medical services command of a major city. In 2010, he moved into a role as managing director of an emergency medical services school, which he established and led. Alongside his professional career, he completed a Master’s degree in Disaster Prevention and Management. Carsten Petersen has worked in staff units at both state and municipal levels for the DRK (German Red Cross) in Schleswig-Holstein. Additionally, he continues to be involved in the exercise management pool for staff training at a state fire service school.
