Initial situation
A joint industrial fire department is responsible for the site of two manufacturing industrial companies with a focus on machinery, vehicle, and drive technology.
As part of the regular preparation of a needs and development plan, an assessment of the joint industrial fire department was conducted. In addition to historical site changes, which raise questions regarding building permit approvals, the industrial fire department operates an industrial rescue service as well as its own control center.
Objective
The objective of the project was to prepare a needs and development plan for submission to the responsible supervisory authority. In the course of this, the industrial fire department was comprehensively assessed, including the organizational framework conditions, the operational control center, and the operational rescue service.
Approach and Methodology
The methodological basis was a comprehensive site inspection followed by a risk analysis, from which the relevant design scenarios were derived.
Due to the tight timeframe required by the project, the design scenarios were developed in a workshop together with the industrial fire department and representatives of the higher-level specialist departments.
In addition, various data evaluations were conducted as well as a detailed review of the approval situation, in which over 1,300 text passages were analyzed.
Measures Taken
The prepared document was submitted by the client to the supervisory authority to update the official decision. The additional project documentation also serves the client as a well-founded basis for decision-making to derive specific measures.
Results / Successes / Client Feedback
The client’s feedback was consistently positive. The project was also evaluated very positively by the supervisory authority, and the expected content was recorded by the authority in the final decision. For the additional subject areas, the practical and specifically implementable recommendations for action were particularly emphasized, which provide both the industrial fire department and the site with increased planning certainty.
