From small corporate events to city festivals and major events such as festivals or European Football Championship matches, events take place in nearly every municipality. Event safety is a complex subject area. Past incidents both domestically and abroad demonstrate the critical importance of safety concepts. Since the Love Parade disaster in 2010 at the latest, licensing authorities have also been in the public spotlight.

The online compact seminar outlines the legal framework and then addresses important points for assessing events and their safety concepts. The focus is on frequently occurring questions and challenges.

The seminar is rounded off with practical examples and the opportunity for brief group discussion.

Participants will learn to evaluate safety concepts with regard to quality and will be able to assess which events should require such a concept.

Philipp Ballschuh

Instructor

Philipp Ballschuh holds a degree in rescue engineering and, following his career training for senior fire service and several years serving as deputy head of a full-time industrial fire department, is now head of fire prevention at a production company with >1,000 employees. He brings many years of professional experience in the field of industrial emergency response across various companies. In addition to this role, Philipp Ballschuh develops safety concepts for events and assumes on-site safety management. At Hannover University of Applied Sciences and Arts, he teaches risk management in the Event Management program.

Niklas Lübbe

Senior Consultant

Niklas Lübbe works as a Senior Consultant in the field of needs assessment and organizational consulting for both career and volunteer emergency response structures. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Rescue Engineering, completed vocational training as an industrial management assistant, and possesses the Professional Certificate in Event Safety & Security Management. As part of his thesis, he addressed a question regarding needs planning for major medical incidents in the state of Lower Saxony. Niklas Lübbe has many years of operational experience with the DRK Kreisverband Harburg-Land e.V., including training as a unit leader and practical experience in preparing and conducting medical and emergency services for events with up to approximately 80,000 attendees. Since 2018, he has also been active with the volunteer fire department of the Samtgemeinde Hanstedt in the Hanstedt local fire brigade. Professionally, Niklas Lübbe has led numerous projects in disaster response and fire protection needs planning in recent years and has contributed to organizational consulting for career fire departments and dispatch centers.
