Initial situation
At the site of a medical technology company, life-sustaining products are developed and manufactured.
The facility is classified as critical infrastructure, as it is of great importance both internally and ensures medical product manufacturing for the overall market. The site has undergone several transformation processes throughout its history, resulting in some fire protection-related questions regarding building permit approval. Furthermore, the topic of a company fire department had been discussed repeatedly in this context, but never in sufficient detail to have the potential for implementation.
Objective
Development of a strategy paper with different variants of a company fire department that would provide synergy effects for the site.
Solution Approach/Process/Methodology
Initially, a site inspection was conducted with the project participants.
This was followed by a risk analysis of the site to identify design scenarios for the company fire department.
For determining the staffing and equipment requirements of the company fire department, the variants of technical advisory, independent team, and crew were listed.
Measures Taken
The prepared document serves the client as a decision-making basis for deriving concrete measures.
Results / Successes / Client Feedback
The feedback from the client is positive—particularly with regard to the presentation of the variants and the great level of detail in which the topic had never been examined and discussed before.
